About This Item

New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1984. First US Edition Thus/Third Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. The author's acclaimed novel which won the Best of all Booker Prize winners. In grey boards with red spine cloth. A beautiful copy that appears unread with only a small scuff and bottom front corner, otherwise sharp corners, clean interior and tight binding. Jacket is unclipped($14.95) and glossy with 1 inch tear and to top of front panel and a few nicks to spine ends. Tanning stripes likely form storage to top of rear panel and a fair amount of fading to spine (which every copy I have seen displays due to color used) and a little to edges of front panel.

Synopsis

Midnight's Children is an epic book of magical realism, a poioumenon about India's transition from British colonialism to independence. It was written by Salman Rushdie in 1981 and is considered an example of postcolonial literature. The story is expressed through various characters and is contexted by actual historical events as with historical fiction. Midnight's Children won both the 1981 Booker Prize and the James Tait Black Memorial Prize for the same year.
