"The first permanent record of a military history of the Island of Montserrat, West Indies, which over time has been largely neglected by military historians, authors and the population of Montserrat. Contains substantial information concerning the many attacks on Montserrat which occurred between 1632, the year it was colonized, to the year 1815, which saw the end of the Napoleonic wars, and peace finally descending on the island. Also covers the defence systems which were developed over time on Montserrat including the fortifications which were constructed, the cannons which were used to arm the fortifications, and the Militia and British troops who defended the island. - from Preface.
