A beautiful and haunting portrait of a worker dressed for painting, or removing paint from the bridge. Titled, dated and signed by the photographer on the verso of the print. 13 x 9 7/8 inches, (image), 14 x 11 inches, (sheet). In excellent condition. The following is quoted from the catalogue of an exhibition of Walker's photographs titled "The Preacher and His Congregation," presented in 2006 by the Flint Institute of Arts, Flint Michigan: "Inevitably, the photographs of James Perry Walker tap an emotional key, giving witness to a deep faith. Growing up in Marshall County, Mississippi in the 1950s and 1960s, Mr. Walker witnessed life in an isolated, impoverished rural community. "Following his graduation from college, he spent the summer of 1967 working in Marshall County as a teacher at Gatewood Baptist Church, whose pastor was the Reverend Louis Cole."
