A selection of 6 dramas by 6 leading English playwright/poets whose works first appeared from the 17th Century through the early 19th Century. --- Included are: All for Love, or, the World Well Lost by John Dryden; The School for Scandal by Richard Brinsley Sheridan; She Stoops to Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith; The Cenci by Percy Bysshe Shelley; A Blot in the 'Scutcheon by Robert Browning; and Manfred by Lord Byron. With introduction, notes, 2 tissue-guarded sepia illustrations of scenes from "She Stoops..." and a reproduction of a publishing contract involving Oliver Goldsmith. One from a rather scarce version of the series, "The Harvard Classics" as published by P. F. Collier, edited by Charles W. Eliot. --- In dark red buckram cloth-covered boards with titling and Harvard crest, and Charles Eliot's facsimile signature in gilt on the cover; gilt-stamped spine titling. TEG (top edge gilt), other edges deckled and with dark red ribbed endpapers. Lacks a dust jacket. --- With a few whitish spots to covers, moderate wear to extremities of cloth, else a sound, unmarked, sturdy copy.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; (4), 444 pages .
