About This Item

London: Chatto & Windus, 1894. The eighteenth volume in the Rougon-Macquart series; first serialized in 1890. This is a Very Good copy of the First English Edition, translated from the French by Ernest A. Vizetelly. Tan cloth binding with Titling and decoration on the front cover in black and blue; gilt titling on the spine. Clean text;xiv, 428 pages. There is a catalog leaf prior to the title page and a thirty-page catalong dated April 1894 in the rear. [The catalog is paginated, but it does not collate, perhaps due to a last-minute addition.] There is a lean; corners are bumped; spotting to the page-enda. The spine has darkened and is rubbed at the head and foot. Basically a sound copy, if not the prettiest one could desire. . First UK Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
