London, 1851. Book. Very Good. Hardback. First Edition. 4to (22 x 28cm). 50 fine hand-coloured lithographic plates - March 1851 - May 1853; each plate accompanyied by a dated leaf of letterpress. Letterpress title page but without date, authors or printer; index [pp.20]. This would only appear to be a selection of the genus as in total 210 lithographs were published on Helix for Conchologia Iconica. Plates and text as follows: Helix Plate I- XXI, XXV, XXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIV-XLIX, LIII,, LXVIII-LXXIV, LXXXVI, LXXXIX, XC, XCIV, XCV, XCVII-C and CLV. Bound in later plain black cloth with the title HELIX in gilt to the spine, very good with a little general wear and rubbing, slightly marked. Contents clean and tight, bookplate of Franics Hemming to the front paste-down, plates clean and crisp.A very good copy..
