New York: Viking Pr, 1942. Book. Very Good +. Hardcover. First Edition/First Printing. A square solid tight clean carefully read copy. First edition with the dot on page 112 removed. Original blue cloth with silver lettering. Title and author blind stamped to the front board and silver lettering to the spine area. There is some lightish browning to the endpapers front and rear with some lightish browning/soil to the edges of the text block. Over-all a pretty nice copy..

Despite Axis efforts to suppress it (in Fascist Italy, mere possession of the book was punishable by death), The Moon is Down was secretly translated into French, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, Swedish, German, Italian and Russian; hundreds of thousands of copies circulated throughout Europe, making it by far the most popular piece of propaganda under the occupation.
