About This Item

London: Collins, 1963. First edition. A fine copy in a nearly fine dust jacket with two light blue horizontal lines on the verso of the jacket (offset from a previous jacket protector) with slight bleed through most noticeable to the white background areas and mild rubbing to the corner tips and spine ends. "...formulaic good/evil conflict narrative is enriched by extensive allusions to Nordic-British Legend and effective interplay between the placid surface and the ominous undercurrents." - Barron (ed.): Fantasy Literature 4B-53. Schlobin, The Literature of Fantasy #403, Survey of Modern Fantasy Literature V, pp. 2087-89. Tymn (ed), Fantasy Literature, pp. 88-9.

Synopsis

The Moon of Gomrath is a fantasy story by the author Alan Garner, published in 1963. It is the sequel to The Weirdstone of Brisingamen. Once again, it details the involvement of two children, Colin and Susan, with the world of myth and magic. This time the focus is on the potential of the older, wilder forms of magic and myth cycle to create both creative and destructive forces on the world.
