Paris: Jean Crès, 1946     ¶ First edition with these illustrations, one of 945 numbered copies on vélin d'Arches; a very elegant production nicely preserved in original wrappers. The illustrator was the subject of an exhibition at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Orléans, 2001. The present copy is numbered "89".   ||| Series: Les maîtres conteurs, no. 7.  Collation: In 4s (165 × 105 mm untrimmed): Forty leaves, paginated [i-iv], [1-5] 6-69 [70-76], including the genuine initial and final blanks (pages [i-iv], [73-76]). Title in fine lithographed emblematic border, folios and ornaments printed in blue throughout.  Illustration: Seven three-quarter-page lithographs< on pp 11 21 29 37 47 57 65 > by Edmond Maurice Pérot (b. 1908).  Binding: Pale-green textured wrappers printed in black with blue, top-, tail-, and foredge flaps, fore- and tailedges untrimmed as issued.
