Octavo. Original blue-green cloth backing beige cloth boards, titles to spine gilt, original unclipped dustwrapper in excellent condition. This first printing of Lillian Gish s biography is a presentation copy INSCRIBED (dated April 12, 1969) over to her good friend director Gilbert "Gil" Cates (1934-2011) and his wife. He was an American film director and television producer, director of the Geffen Playhouse, Also was a Member of Cates/Doty Productions and founding dean of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. He produced the Academy Awards a record 14 times from 1990-2008 and he also directed Gish on stage and on the small screen in Hobson s Choice.
