About This Item

London: Jonathan Cape, 1921 . First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 8.5" by 6". Stephen Bone. The first limited edition, first printing of this novel by Gertrude Bone with illustrations by Stephen bone, signed by the author and illustrator. First limited edition, first printing of Mr Paul by Gertrude Bone in the original publisher's cloth binding. With illustrations throughout the text by the author's son, the artist Stephen Bone. Signed by the author and the illustrator to the limitation page. This is an example of Stephen Bone's early work. He achieved early success for wood cut engravings for book illustrations before moving on to painting and art criticism. No dust wrapper present. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine. The front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the occasional spot. Very Good Indeed
