Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1936. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 86 pages. Jan. 1936 note by TSE describes this as a "second edition," compared with the version in which the play was produced at the Canterbury Festival in June 1935. 8vo, black cloth with faded gilt lettering on spine, minimal shelf wear with sharp corners, isolated dust stains on a few pages, in aged-toned DJ with small losses at crown, other light shelf wear, old price sticker on front panel, all flaps appear clipped but decoratively - $2.25 price on front flap is not clipped. A former owner's name sticker affixed to ffep, underscoring in pencil observed in two places.

S. Eliot's best-known drama, based on the murder of the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1170. Praised for its poetically masterful handling of issues of faith, politics, and the common good, T. S. Eliot's play bolstered his reputation as the most significant poet of his time.
