Not Stated: Walton & Maberley, 1854. Leather. Fair. 7.5" by 5". Not Stated. Numerous editions of Lardner's 'Museum of Science and Art' bound together in leather and richly illustrated. The 'Museum of Science and Art' was published in twelve volumes between 1854 and 1856.This set comprises many editions detailing sound, eclipses, the Sun, terrestrial heat, lunar influences, thunder and lightning , shooting stars, the bee, microscopic objects, colour, man, water, kaleidoscope, and the thermometer, amongst a great many other things.Written by Dionysius Lardner (1793-1859), an Irish scientific writer known for popularising scientific and technological writing. He was Professor of natural philosophy and astrology at University College, London.Undated; dated from copies on Jisc. In a half calf binding. Externally rather worn, with the leather to the spines nearly all lost, some of the marbled board lost of volume II and boards and extremities rubbed. Handwritten indexes to the front endpapers and an ownership inscription to the pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages have the odd spot but are otherwise bright and clean. Fair
