Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a F/O on the FFFP and small bookplate on the front pastedown. Book Condition: Good; shelfwear to head, tail, tips, and board bottom edges; wear through paper at tips. No DJ. Blue paper over boards with black cloth overlay on the spine with a paste-on paper title on the spine. Frontispiece photo of the author with tissue guard. Gilt textblock top. Deckled for edge and bottom edge of textblock. Clean internals. Interior hinges are sound and not split. 484 pp tall 8vo. The author was an English poet, writer, anti-imperialist, and Arabist. He and his wife Lady Anne Blunt traveled in the Middle East and were instrumental in preserving the Arabian horse bloodlines through their farm, the Crabbet Arabian Stud in England. He was best known for his poetry, which appeared in a collected edition in 1914, and also wrote political essays and polemics. He became additionally known for strongly anti-imperialist views that were still uncommon in his time. This book, contains almost daily diary entries which will enlighten the reader on the conditions in the Middle and Near East in light British intrusion and the beginnings of the politics that would usher in WWI. A clean very presentable copy.
