Second edition. Illustrated with coloured frontispiece and thirty-one coloured plates. Collated complete. A exploration of myths and legends from Japanese history, with chapters including: Buddha Legends, Fox Legends, Legend in Japanese Art, Flowers and Gardens, Mirrors, Festivals, and much more. Written by Frederick Hadland Davies, a British author and historian. Illustrated by Evelyn Paul, a British artist best known for her book illustration and replications of medieval works. In the original pictorial blue cloth binding with gilt. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Light spotting to the endpapers. Very Good
