Hodson's illustrated study of the Naga tribes of Northeast India and Upper Burma. Illustrated throughout, with a colour frontispiece, a folding map, and fifteen further photographic plates. Collated, complete.Divided into five sections, Hosdson's work examines the people, domestic life, laws and customs, religions and folk tales of the various tribes Naga tribes of Northeast India and Burma. The term 'Naga' was adopted by the British as an umbrella term for a number of ethnic groups in the region, based on loose linguistic and cultural associations.Former owner's inscription to title page head.The 1991 census of India listed thirty-five Naga groups, although up to sixty seven have been identified. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail and board perimeters, with discolouration to back strip. Front joint starting with board holding firm, rear hinge strained with board tenderly held. Internally, binding lightly strained, with one plate detached. Pages generally clean and bright, with a former owner's inscription to title page head. Very Good
