Complete set in two volumes. The book chronicles the extensive travels through the American Northeast observing camp meetings, Shakers and Hicksites, female academies, colleges, and centers of all denominations. Comments are made on slavery and anti-slavery societies, impressions of stagecoach travel, inns, manners and "The Kentucky Squeeze." An unusual and scarce account of early American travel.

Condition:
The cloth has faded along the perimeter of the covers; light stains on the covers. Some chipping to the cloth at the top of the vol 1 spine. Cloth tears along the left edge of the vol 1 spine. There is a split at the top of the spine at the back of vol 2 between the last text page and the end paper...despite the split, the back cover is still firmly attached and is not shaky. All front/back covers are firmly attached. Consistent foxing to the pages throughout both volumes; heavy foxing to the end papers and pastedowns. The rear end paper of vol 2 is partially affixed to the facing pastedown. Old name written in pencil on the vol 1 end paper. Overall the set is in Fair condition.
