Very Good. stated. 177 pages plus 21 front matter pages including Introduction (by the translator, covering Epicureanism and other philosophical and political context in which the poem was written) and Note on This Translation, with Brief Bibliography. Copley, Professor Emeritus of Latin at the University of Michigan, translated De Rerum Natura from the Latin hexameter of Lucretius into "a somewhat loosened form" of iambic pentameter (as he had done with Virgil's Aeneid), and into "contemporary English", the back cover blurb states. Trade paperback, very slight curl to front cover, scarcely worn except for page-turning smudge at bottom corner. Bookstore price in pencil on ffep, interior pages unmarked.
