About This Item
Florence, Published by Glaucus Masi and Co., 1839. 12mo, 168 x 97 mms., pp. 564, contemporary quarter vellum, gilt spine, olive morocco label; vellum corners worn, but a good to very good copy. Little seems to be known about Angelo Vergani (fl. 1799-1813), but the reprint market is awash with copies of this volume, often giving differing dates for the first Italian edition or this translation. It was possibly translated by Alfred Elwes (18191888), but he would have been very young when this edition was published.
