Boston: James R. Osgood and Company. Fair with no dust jacket. 1873. First Edition. Hardcover. viii + 399pp + 24 pp ads. Illus with maps and plans. Scarce 1st edition of this comprehensive guide to the New England states, including NY and Quebec, with many wonderful pages of ads. Light orange boards are grubby and worn at extremities, front cover gilt legible, spine gilt exterminated by library labels. Covers are detaching, first fly page (advert) is chipped and worn, some light staining and wear throughout. Standard library marks. However, book block is sturdy, all text maps and folding plates are present and very clean. The rear pocket is missing as is the overall map of New England. The rear map of Boston is present but in 3 pieces and quite fragile. Scarce and pleasing, even in this "as is" condition.; Ex-Library; 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall; 399 pages .
