About This Item
Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1952. Revised post-war edition of this "outstanding" volume in the important American Guide Series on the city, then as now a "stronghold of curious old European and African traditions". Light wear to book, corners bumped, top edge faded, minor nicks, ink name inside cover, another name rubberstamped on the flyleaf; price-clipped jacket edgeworn and chipped, with an inch chunk gone from the rear panel, small holes, internal non-archival but not horrible tape mends. Text clean; lx, [2], 416 pages; b/w photos, illustrations, checklist of notable personalities, chronology, bibliography, index, endsheet map. . First Revised Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Good. Octavo.
