An uncommon volume. One of three anthologies published before his death.Anthology of the poems of English poet Francis Thompson. Containing poems of sight and insight, 'A Narrow Vessel,' miscellaneous odes and verses, and 'Ultima.' Before he published his first volume, Thompson was a doctor who became homeless and addicted to opium. he was taken in by Wilfrid and Alice Meynell in 1888, publishing his first volume in 1893. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally with some shelf wear, damp marks to front and rear board, front joint only starting to head, boards holding firm. Library bookplate to front pastedown, neat previous owner's gift inscription to front free endpaper, dated 1897. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
