New York, NY: The New York Tribune, 1859. 40 x 56 cm. Small article: ""Our American Cousin"" Boston, Thursday, March 10, 1859. The petition of Miss Laura Keene, for an injunction to restrain the performance of ""Our American Cousin"" at the Boston Museum, was heard today before the Supreme Court. The respondent, the Hon, Moses Kimball, not being fully ready with his evidence, in denial of Miss Keene's exclusive ownership of the play, gave bonds in fifteen hundred dollars damages, if any should be decreed at a future hearing, and will continue to enact the piece. [Note: This is the play Pres. Lincoln attended six years later, at which he was assassinated.] Attempt to burn down Massachusetts State House causes evacuation. France and Austria preparing for war. Lord Cowley sent from London to Vienna on a mission of conciliation. Disraeli says that a conditional guaranty offer has been made to the Atlantic Telegraph Co.
