Managua: Editorial Alemana, 1969. Paperback. [12], 62, [2] + 3 leaves of plates (2 folded), illustrations, portrait, wraps. 9.25 x 6.5 in. In Spanish with an English translation appended (pages 33-62). Author's presentation inscription on front flyleaf. With a typed letter, signed, by Charles F. Gritzner, on Louisiana State University Department of Geography and Anthropology letterhead, with a lengthy manuscript postscript, addressed to Robert Fuson. Handwritten spine title: "Nicaragua, cradle of the Americas.". Historical geography. The author, then a student at Louisiana State University, argues that the name America has its roots in the indigenous languages of Nicaragua whose coast was explored by John Cabot in 1497. Introduction in English and Spanish by Charles F. Gritzner.
