Publicada en 1914, Niebla marca un punto de inflexin en la novela experimental espaola y es una de las principales obras de Miguel de Unamuno (Espaa, 1864-1936). La pasin, la mentira y el desengao, la armona conyugal y el amor filial, el destino y la descendencia, el deber y el honor, la propia trama de la realidad convencional son para el autor vapores de la niebla del aburrimiento, donde la eternidad no es porvenir, sino una montona repeticin.

Discurriendo con afilada irona a travs de potentes dilogos, en esta historia de decepcin amorosa el antihroe Augusto, presa de un amor obsesivo por Eugenia, una pianista feminista que anhela vivir de rentas, se enfrenta a los demonios de su existencia. Lo acompaa un grupo igualmente florido, entre los que se cuentan un anarquista que habla esperanto, un perro filsofo que muere de tristeza y el propio Unamuno, en dilogo directo con Augusto.

Junto a Abel Snchez, Amor y pedagoga y La ta Tula, Niebla integra el gnero de la nivola, ficcin literaria creada por Miguel de Unamuno y caracterizada por un mayor nfasis en el contenido que en la forma, y por personajes que encarnan pasiones e ideas en una trama que no se detiene en prembulos. Heredero de S ren Kierkegaard y precursor de la filosofa existencial europea, Unamuno es uno de los principales pensadores del siglo XX.
