DJ has shelfwear (chipping, shelf-wear and rubbing present to the DJ especially around the extremities). Previous owner's bookplate present to the reverese of the front board, foxing present to the hinges on both endpapers. Text is clean and free of marks, binding tight and solid, boards lightly rubbed and worn (spine discolored). Warren's first novel, set during the "tobacco wars" that raged in Kentucky and Tennessee in the early part of this century. Percy Munn is one of Warren's innocent idealists whose delusions become murderous as he attempts to define himself by action in the unfolding violence around him. E-100; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 460 pages .
