About This Item
George Bell, London, ca. 1862. Frontispiece, extra engraved title and 31 plates. Large 8vo (8 3/4 x 6 1/2 inches), 229-pages original red bevelled cloth pictorially and decoratively blocked in gilt, all edges gilt. A very nice copy indeed, very bright and very clean internally. However due to the perishing of the gutta percha, (a form of binding latex) very common among books of this period, some prelim. leaves have become detached although undamaged and other leaves will certainly follow in due course. The volume really needs re-casing; it is certainly worthy of it and is priced to allow for it.
