Fiction, short stories: Considered a display in virtuosity by a great spinner of tales. 10 stories including title. A. E. Coppard, b.1878, Folkestone, England, left school at age 9 to work. He eventually became a clerk, until 1919 when his early stories won recognition for him and he turned to writing full time. At the time of this collection's publication, he was living "in a little cottage in a wood near Henley-on-Thames". This was his 5th collection of tales, plus a poetry volume.
