About This Item

Washington, DC: GPO. FINE book. Kenneth E.Kidd, ROM curator of Ethnology, SIGNS twice. 1922. 1st edition. Hardcover. FINE book. SIGNED by C.T. Currelly (with his bkplt) ROM (Royal Ont Museum) founder (1914) & long time (til 1946) head. . Green cloth. Boards edge ruled in blind. Gilt lettered spine faded. Book stays closed when stood on spine. Flawless text, illustrations and fold out plate. Book was first owned by founder & head of Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) Charles Trick Currelly (1876 - 1957). He was an interesting man. After getting his Masters he met Flinders Petrie in 1902, who offered him a job. This lasted five years, in which time he discovered the cenotoph & tomb of Ahmose. He helped found ROM in 1914 & stayed with it to 1946. SIGNED by Currelly on fep. Above his bookplate Kenneth E. Kidd has written "KE Kidd". Kidd (1906-1994) was ROM curator of Ethnology from 1935 to 1981. Seems likely Currelly was book's first owner, then Kidd. .
