Pritchett's fifth work, presented by the author to Kingsley Martin, editor of the New Statesman, later owned by Christopher MacLehose. This is a work of drama.Sir Victor Sawdon Pritchett (1900-1997) was a British writer and literary critic, known for his fiction, non-fiction and journalism.Pritchett, or VSP as he often went by, presented this copy to Kingslepy Martin (1897-1969), the editor of the New Statesman, for whom Pritchett was a literary editor for many years.This copy contains the bookplate of Christopher MacLehose (b1940) a British publisher, founder of the Mountain Leopard Press, and the MacLehose Press. His success includes introducing Stief Larsson, Raymond Carver and Richard Ford to a British audience.A first edition. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally very smart, with the spine a touch faded and the odd mark to the board. Ownership bookplate to the front pastedown; author's inscription to the front endpaper. Internally firmly bound, pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
