About This Item
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1901. Author's Edition. Hardcover. Good +. Octavo [21.5 cm]. Green cloth over boards with gilt title on spines and front boards, and gilt ruled border on front boards. Top of text block is gilt. Deckled fore-edges. The extremities are bumped and rubbed. Many of the boards have stains or light soiling. Spines are heavily sun bleached. A few volumes have cracked textblocks. Volume 1 of "Sentimental Tommy" has been stabbed with an unknown 1cm object, puncturing the front board and the textblock nearly all the way through. "Nicotine" bears a previous owner's inscription on front flyleaf, as does "Auld." "Auld" also bears the mark of water damage, with a slight buckling to the boards and a waviness to the textblock. This set precedes "Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens," and introduces a character named Peter Pan (for the first time) in "The Little White Bird."
Illustrated with frontispieces in every volume.
Includes "Sentimental Tommy," "The Little Minister," "The Little White Bird," "Tommy and Grizel," "My Lady Nicotine Margaret Ogilvy," "Auld Light Idylls," When a Man's Single," and "A Window in Thrums an Edinburgh Eleven.
