About This Item

London, New York and Toronto: Geoffrey Cumberlege Oxford University Press, 1953-1980. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 7.5" by 5". Not Stated. A lovely set of works by Jane Austen, uniformly bound in green cloth and with illustrations. An illustrated set of The Novels and Works of Jane Austen, edited by R. W. Chapman. Chapman was a British scholar, book collector, and editor of the works of Samuel Johnson and Jane Austin. This set includes four out of the five volume set being 'The Novels', and the additional sixth volume being 'Minor Works'. It is missing Volume II of the original five volume set. The third edition, later impressions of the original five volume set, and 'Minor Works' is a reprint.Volume I, Sense and Sensibility (1953), Volume III, Mansfield Park (1953), Volume IV, Emma (1960), Volume V, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion (1980), and Volume VI, Minor Works (1963).With many illustrations throughout from contemporary sources. In the original publisher's cloth bindings. Externally, very smart. There is some slight bumping to the heads and tails of the spines. The spines of Volume I and III are slightly faded. There are some light marks to the boards and light spotting to the fore edges. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the very occasional spot. Very Good Indeed
