London: Taylor & Walton, 1840. 17 engraved plates at the end, plus wood-engraved text illustrations. xiv,[2],420 pp. 8vo., original brown cloth sides rebacked (though a bit awkwardly) with black cloth, and a hand-written label to spine. Ex-library; bookplate at front pastedown and pencil ownership to half-title. Some scuffing to boards and perimeters, and minor shelfwear at bottom-edges of boards. Front hinge cracked. Two leaves (p. 213-216) are trimmed close to the text block, but without loss of text. Internally clean and complete, and solid overall, it is an acceptable copy.
