About This Item
London: Printed for John Stockdale, 1792. [8],283pp. Contemporary three-quarter calf and marbled boards, gilt morocco label. Boards a bit rubbed and edgeworn, hinges worn. Contemporary bookplate on front pastedown. Very clean internally. Very good overall. Boothby's treatise is a critique of two of Thomas Paine's later works, dealing with English politics and liberties, and with Paine's response to Edmund Burke's criticisms of the French Revolution. A worthy addition to any Thomas Paine collection
