Paris: Chez Delaguette, 1751. Full Leather. Very Good binding. Octavo. xvi, 170, [4], [2 (blank)], xxxvi, 427, [2], [1 (blank)] pp., 3 folding plates. Second edition. Contemporary mottled calf with morocco title label and gilt decorated spine. A handsome binding with only light wear to the extremities, quite fresh and solid. "Levret, who improved the obstetric forceps, was a famous teacher in Paris" Garrison & Morton 6152 (first edition). Originally issued in 1747, this second edition is complete with three engravings (all folding) of various medical instruments including forceps. Walleriana 5763 (third edition) & 5764 (variant).
