About This Item

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original clipped dust wrapper. Occasion for Loving is a 1963 novel by South African author and political activist Nadine Gordimer (1923-2014). She received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1991, recognized as a writer "who through her magnificent epic writing has... been of very great benefit to humanity". This novel focuses on a forbidden romantic relationship during apartheid between a woman in the wealthy white elite in South Africa and an African artist. In publisher's original cloth binding, with original clipped dust wrapper. Externally, cloth is in lovely condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with some spotting to the first and last few pages, and to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page. A little offsetting to the free end papers. Dust wrapper is somewhat foxed and slightly sunned to the spine. Head of the spine has been reinforced to the reverse as a little chipped, and there is a small faint tidemark to the tail of the spine. Very Good Indeed
