London: Printed for R. Dodsley, 1749. First edition thus, translated by West. 22-page introduction followed by Pindar's odes including on the Olympic games. Also includes translations of Horace, Euripides, et al. Quarto contemporary calf. General aging, edge wear and soiling to covers though interior clean. Front endpaper detached but present, glue evident at hinges which are starting, gilt lettering on spine label nearly perished. Still good or better. Housed in patterned paper-lined cloth chemise and matching slipcase with leather spine stamped in gilt and stylized gilt initials to bottom open corner, "MEG.
