About This Item

1790 1ed Mably Rights of Man Duties Citizen Philosophy French Revolution 8v SET

Gabriel Bonnot de Mably was a French philosopher and historian who is most-known for his diplomatic writings and letters. He wrote works on the history of the Greeks, Romans, Polish, French, early United States history, Phoenicians, and much, much more. This 1790 set of the complete works of Mably was printed in eight distinct tomes with all 21 volumes.

This set also includes Mably's most important work 'The Rights of Man and Duties of Citizens'. In this work, Mably warned France against events that would later develop during the French Revolution! Many of the concepts found in this work would contribute to what would be communism, though his writings were aimed toward and appealed to the poor.
