Tokyo: Zaisei Keizai Jihōsha, 1926. First Edition. vo, quarter cloth over paper covered boards, 173, 160 pp. With a photograph of Carmen Aguirre and a calling card laid in. Fine condition. Inscribed by Carmen Aguirre in 1927 on front free endpaper. Fine. A collection of writings by Narinori Okoshi, who worked several positions in the Japanese foreigh service, including Consul-General during the Sino-Japanese War. He later served as Minister to Brazil and Minister to Argentina, and was very active in promoting the Japan Society. He married an English woman, Carmen Aguirre, whose cabinet card portrait is included here, as well as a folding card commemorating their marriage.
The book contains historical essays on Japan and the building of the Nikko Temples and essays on a range of subjects, many of which relate to finances and audit systems in Japan, England and Argentina. The book is split into two sections with text in both Japanese and English, with two essays in French at the end of the English language section. One essay deals with Commodore Perry's arrival in Japan, reprinted from an article written for "Japan Times" in 1917.
Three copies held in institutions per OCLC, all in California.
