Very early reprint circa 1918, 275 x 215 mm, 10¾ x 8¼ inches, blue cloth backed buff boards, lettered navy blue on spine, in cream on upper cover on large mounted colour plate showing 5 children singing, plain endpapers, 87 pages including illustrated half-title and title page. Coloured frontispiece of children dancing to Sur le Pont d'Avignon, title page printed blue and black, 7 further delightful colour plates and numerous black and white illustrations for 32 well known children's songs. Tiniest bump to top corner of lower cover, no inscriptions, no foxing or browning. A near Fine copy in good DUSTWRAPPER (dw: a bit tattered (see image), a small narrow triangular slit through part of lettering on upper panel, a 10 mm (½") chip to lower edge of the same, a few short closed edge tears, reverse has old paper repair to head of spine and several modern repairs with adhesive tape). This reprint has buff boards instead of dark blue and is very slightly smaller than the first edition. Otherwise they are identical. Later editions have the imprint "George Harrap & Co.
