FIRST EDITION (1917) dated from inscription and from British Library catalogue, 283 x 220 mm, 11 x 8 inches, blue cloth backed dark blue boards, lettered navy blue on spine, in cream on upper cover on large mounted colour plate showing 5 children singing, plain endpapers, 87 pages including illustrated half-title and title page. Coloured frontispiece of children dancing to Sur le Pont d'Avignon, title page printed blue and black, 7 further delightful colour plates and numerous black and white illustrations for 32 well known children's songs. Slightest rub to head and tail of spine, tiniest bump to top corner of upper cover, neat inscription dated December 1917 on front endpaper, tiny closed tear to top edge of 1 plate next to centre fold, half-title and verso of final page faintly browned, some inner joints cracked, but binding tight and firm. A very good plus clean bright copy, lacking dustwrapper. Later editions have the imprint "George Harrap & Co. Ltd" (Harrap became a limited company sometime during 1918).
