About This Item

London : University of London Press, 1958 . Hardback. Very Good Indeed/Very Good Indeed. 8" by 5.5". Philip Gough . A timeless children's classic. A reprint from 1958. Originally published in 1949.In the original unclipped dust wrapper. Eleanor Farjeon was an English author of children's stories, plays, and poetry. This is a collection old old nursery stories and fairy tales. Each story is written in a very traditional style of problem, solution, and a happy ending. This book is accompanied by Philip Gough's illustrations. Gough uses traditional stereotypes to create a set of larger than life characters who jump out the page. The illustrations enable each story to be immersive making it suitable for a dual readership. Bound in the original cloth boards in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally generally smart. Loss to the head of the dust wrapper. The reverse of the dust wrapper is lightly spotted. The boards are generally clean. Internally firmly bound. Spotting to the text block and the first and last pages but overall pages are generally clean. All illustrations are clean. Pencil annotation to the front free endpaper. Very Good Indeed
