London: The Connoisseur Magazine, 1908. Cloth. Good. 11" by 8.5". Various. A charming collection of sporting illustrations, depicting numerous sporting events by various artists. This work was published by 'The Connoisseur', a renowned twentieth century British magazine published from 1901 to 1992. The magazine primarily focused on luxury topics such as fine art, collectibles and antique furniture, or more generally, "devoted to any and every object that is or can be collected" . This work was is entitled 'Connoisseur extra number' to the title page. This copy has been rebound in a full cloth binding with the original front wrap bound in. With four pages of black and white plates and sixteen coloured plates. This copy is incomplete, lacking the frontispiece, nineteen coloured plates, and black and white plates on pages 13/14, 33/34, and 39/40. Rebound in a burgundy cloth binding. Externally sound, with slight bumping to extremities of boards and head and tail of spine. Slight cockling to cloth to the front board. Front hinge strained. Internally, generally firmly bound, slightly strained in places. Some plates have been removed by a previous owner. Pages bright, though foxed throughout. Good
