The first edition of Herbert Cescinsky's extensive work on the furniture and decoration of old houses, illustrated throughout, held in the original unclipped dustwrapper. The first edition of this work. Incomplete, being Volume I only of two volumes. Held in the original publisher's unclipped dustwrapper. This work is an interesting look at the furniture and decorations found in the interior designs in older houses in England. The author discusses oak chairs and tables, marqueterie furniture, gothic furniture, floors, wood panelling, and more. Illustrated with a frontispiece, and numerous in-text illustrations. Written by Herbert Cescinsky Cescinsky also wrote 'English Furniture of the Eighteenth Century', 'Early English Furniture & Woodwork', 'English Furniture From Gothic to Sheraton', 'Chinese Furniture', 'English Domestic Clocks', and more. In the original publisher's cloth binding, with the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, generally smart. Tidemarking to the fore and bottom edge of the boards. Dustwrapper with a closed tear to the tail of the front wrap, and a little loss to the head of the front wrap. Fading to the spine of the dustwrapper. Light edgewear to the extremities and some marks to the wraps, including a fold to the front wrap. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd handling mark. Very Good Indeed
