About This Item

Published by Viking, London: 2010. 8vo. 306pp. First edition, fifth impression. Condition: Near Fine/Fine.

Bound in original cloth boards, the binding is square and tight and in excellent condition, with just some bumping to the spine ends and a small knock to the front right edge. Inside, the pages are clean and bright and free from marks or damage, and the book appears unread.

The book is housed in its original, unclipped, dust jacket, which is clean and bright and in excellent condition, with just some corresponding bumping to the spine and a couple of scratches to the rear.

In all, this is a very smart example of this novel by le Carré about a Russian money launderer looking to defect after his new superiors kill his close friend. It is a thrilling espionage novel that delves into the world of international intrigue. It centres around a young British couple, Perry and Gail, who are inadvertently swept up in a high-stakes game between Russian mafia and British intelligence. Drawn into a dangerous web of deceit and double-crossing, they find themselves acting as intermediaries between a charismatic Russian money launderer and a British intelligence officer. As they attempt to navigate treacherous waters, they are forced to make decisions that blur the lines between loyalty, betrayal, and survival. The book was made into a film in2016, starring Ewan McGregor, Naomie Harris, and Stellan Skarsgard.
