Marcus Rediker is Distinguished Professor of Atlantic History at the University of Pittsburgh and the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the George Washington Book Prize (2008), the Organization of American Historians’ Merle Cuti Award (2008), and a National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship (2005–6). His books include The Many-Headed Hydra (with Peter Linebaugh), Villains of All Nations , The Slave Ship , and The Amistad Rebellion . He lives in Pittsburgh.
