London: George Newnes Limited, c1921. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 11" by 9". Unamed. A two volume set of works in a deerskin binding, and held in a cloth covered slipcase. A fascinating set of works that offers a insight into the natural world, edited by the notable naturalist Arthur Thomson. Rebound with several front covers from the original publications to the rear of each volume. Undated, dated using Copac. With the previous owners bookplate to the front pastedown of each volume that reads 'St. Augustine's Abbey School Ramsgate. The Mackenzie Prize for General Knowledge Awarded to Robert Warren-Codrington'. This work has been bound in Scotch deerskin which has been dyed for Messrs. Sangorski and Sutcliffe of Poland Street London. This has been explained in a an additional slip bound in to the reverse of the front endpaper. This work has been edited by Sir Arthur Thomson, the noted Scottish naturalist, who wrote several works of zoology. Each of the volumes are profusely illustrated throughout. With one plate misbound to volume II. Collated complete. In a half deerskin leather binding, with cloth covered boards, and gilt crests to the front boards. Externally generally smart. Light fading to the spine, and minor shelfwear. Bookplate to the front pastedown of each volume. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. The volumes are held in the original cloth covered slipcase. Slipcase is lightly bumped and rubbed to the extremities. Very Good Indeed
