Foreword by author, list of illustrations stop the text is illustrated with 16 pages of black-and-white photography between pages 146 and 147. Red coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Photographic dustwrapper with red and white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. The reminiscences of the author, who, for the last 13 years of Ernest Hemingway's life was a boon companion, who, with Hemingway went deep sea fishing with him, travelled the bullfighting circuits in Spain, ran the bulls in Pamplona and went hunting with him in Idaho. "The author's affection for Hemingway is clear, and his very moving account of the forces that eventually overcame the writer and drove him to self-destruction is told with compassion that reveals Ernest Hemingway's death as tragic." – from front fold over panel blurb. Rubbing of the book corners and back strip edges. A very slight cock of the spine with age toning of the text block edges and pages. Faint offset tanning to the end pages with original bookseller's sticker to the lower right-hand corner of the front paste-down. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and back strip edges. There is a 2 inch tear to the top edge of the front panel, a 3 inch tear to the top right-hand corner of the rear panel and a 1.5 inch tear to the lower edge of the same panel. A couple of smaller tears have also occurred and there is creasing of the dustwrapper edges. The front fold over panel has become a little "sloppy". Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
