A Fine first Edition/First Printing in a like dust-jacket that has little edgewear; Cadell's Elizabeth Parson's House is the story of Rachel Parson, a woman who left her rural home in 1809 to study at the prestigious Female Seminary in Philadelphia. From the moment she arrives, Rachel is confronted with the challenges of attending a prestigious school for women. Despite her best efforts, Rachel is often left behind by her classmates and is ridiculed for her lack of education. Despite these challenges, Rachel perseveres, and in 1815 she graduates as the valedictorian of her class. After graduation, Rachel decides to stay in Philadelphia and pursue a career in teaching. She begins working as a teacher in a local school, and in 1825 she is promoted to the position of principal. Rachel is a successful principal, and in 1829 she is promoted to the position of superintendent of schools. However, in 1833 Rachel is forced to resign from her position after she is accused of embezzlement. After leaving her position as superintendent, Rachel; 8vo; 227 pages; 7 .
