Written by Thomas Adolphus Trollope. This work charts the conflict between Pope Paul V and Father Paulo Sarpi of Venetia. A fascinating history of this notorious sixteenth century scandal, this book is split into 5 parts which are titled as follows: Book I. The Time; Book II. The Men; Book III. Brutum Fulmen; Book IV. Fulmen Stopped at The Frontier; Book V. Peace Where There Was No Peace. With a W. H. Smith and Son blindstamp to the front and rear endpapers. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally sound with bumping to the head and tail of the spine, with loss to the backstrip. Rubbing to the front and rear joints, and light bumping to the extremities. The front and rear hinges are strained, with the rear hinge failing to the tail. Very light cockling and fading to the spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Good
